I, Leslie Sheinman Counsellor and Psychotherapist, understand that your privacy is important to you and that you care about how your personal data is used and shared online. I respect and value the privacy of   my Clients and everyone else who visits this website, www.lesliesheinman.com (“our Site”), and will only collect and use personal data in ways that are described here, and in a manner that is consistent with my obligations and your rights under the law.

The procedures and principles set out in this Policy will be followed at all times by   me. 

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully and ensure that you understand it.  You are deemed to have accepted my Privacy Policy when you first use my Site.  If you do not accept and agree with this Privacy Policy, you must stop using my Site immediately.

  1. Definitions and Interpretation

In this Policy, the following terms have the following meanings:

“Client” means any individual, firm or corporate body to which I provide   my services;

“Cookie” means a small text file placed on your computer or device by   my Site when you visit certain parts of my Site and/or when you use certain features of   my Site.

“Personal data” means any and all data that relates to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified from that data. In this case, it means personal data that you give to me by becoming a Client of mine or by visiting   my Site. This definition shall, where applicable, incorporate the definitions provided in the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (“GDPR”); and

  1. What Does This Policy Cover?
    • This Privacy Policy applies to   my use of personal data collected when you become a Client of mine, when you enquire about  my services or when you visit my Site.
    • My Site may contain links to other websites, including social media links. Please note that I have no control over how your data is collected, stored, or used by other websites and I advise you to check the privacy policies of any such websites before providing any data to them.
  1. Your Rights
    • As a data subject, you have the following rights under the GDPR, which this Policy and  my use of personal data have been designed to uphold:
      • The right to be informed about  my collection and use of personal data;
      • The right of access to the personal data I hold about you (see section 11);
      • The right to rectification if any personal data I hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete (please contact   me using the details in section 13);
      • The right to be forgotten – i.e. the right to ask   me to delete any personal data I hold about you (we only hold your personal data for a limited time, as explained in section 5 but if you would like   me to delete it sooner, please contact me using the details in section 13);
      • The right to restrict (i.e. prevent) the processing of your personal data;
      • The right to data portability (obtaining a copy of your personal data to re-use with another service or organisation);
      • The right to object to my using your personal data for particular purposes; and
      • Rights with respect to automated decision making and profiling.
    • If you have any cause for complaint about  my use of your personal data, please contact   me using the details provided in section 13 and I will do  my best to solve the problem for you. If I am unable to help, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK’s supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
    • For further information about your rights, please contact the Information Commissioner’s Office or your local Citizens’ Advice Bureau.
  1. What Data Do I Collect?
    • If you are a Client of mine, I will collect some or all of the following personal data in order for   me to provide my services to you;
      • Name;
      • Contact information including email address, postal address and telephone number;
      • Any personal data relating to other data subjects that you may send to me or that may be made available to me when I provide   my services, such as your customer lists or usernames and passwords. Clients are advised when entering into a contract with me that they must first obtain the permission of any such data subjects and warrant that they have obtained this permission.
    • If you have enquired about  my services or are otherwise a business contact of mine, I may collect some or all of the following personal data in order for   me to provide my services and/or market to you where I have received consent to do so:
      • Name;
      • Contact information including email address, postal address and telephone number.
    • If you visit  my Site, I may collect some or all of the following personal data. Please refer to section 12 below regarding Cookies:
      • Name, email address and telephone number, if you complete  my contact form;
      • Demographic information such as post code, preferences, and interests;
      • IP address;
      • Web browser type and version and operating system.
  1. How Do I Use Your Data?
    • All personal data is processed and stored securely, for no longer than is necessary or statutorily required in light of the reason(s) for which it was first collected. I will comply with  my obligations and safeguard your rights under the GDPR at all times. For more details on security see section 6, below.
    • My use of your personal data will always have a lawful basis, either because it is necessary for  my performance of a contract with you, because you have consented to my use of your personal data (e.g. by subscribing to emails), or because it is in  my legitimate interests. Specifically, I may use your data for the following purposes:
      • Providing and managing your access to  my Site;
      • Personalising and tailoring your experience on  my Site;
      • Supplying  my services to you (please note that I require your personal data in order to enter into a contract with you);
      • Replying to emails from you;
      • Supplying you with promotional or informational emails (you may unsubscribe or opt-out at any time by emailing   me directly;
      • Analysing your use of  my Site to enable me to continually improve  my Site and your user experience.
    • With your permission and/or where permitted by law, I may also use your data for marketing purposes which may include contacting you by email with information, news and offers on  my services. I will not, however, send you any unsolicited marketing or spam and will take all reasonable steps to ensure that I fully protect your rights and comply with my obligations under GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.
    • Third parties whose content appears on  my Site may use third party Cookies, as detailed below in section 12. Please refer to section 12 for more information on controlling Cookies. Please note that I do not control the activities of such third parties, nor the data they collect and use and advise you to check the privacy policies of any such third parties.
    • You have the right to withdraw your consent to   me using your personal data at any time, and to request that I delete it. Unless I have reasonable grounds to refuse to delete it (where this is permitted under the GDPR), I will do so without delay and within no longer than one month from receiving your request.
    • We do not keep your personal data for any longer than is necessary in light of the reason(s) for which it was first collected.
  1. How and Where Do I Store Your Data?
    • We only keep your Personal Data for as long as I need to in order to use it as described above in sections 4 and 5, and/or for as long as I have your permission to keep it.
    • We will only store your data in the UK, however, third party processors I use may store data elsewhere, as set out in section 7.
    • Data security is very important to   me and to protect your data, I have taken suitable measures to safeguard and secure data collected.
  1. Do I Share Your Data?
    • I may sometimes contract with other third parties to supply services to you on  my behalf, such as freelancers, and in some cases, these third parties may require access to some or all of your data. Where any of your data is required for such a purpose, I will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your data will be handled safely, securely, and in accordance with your rights,  my obligations, and the obligations of the third party under the law.
    • I  may compile statistics about the use of  my Site including data on traffic, usage patterns, user numbers, sales, and other information. All such data will be anonymised and will not include any personally identifying data, or any anonymised data that can be combined with other data and used to identify you. I may from time to time share such data with third parties such as prospective investors, affiliates, partners, and advertisers. Data will only be shared and used within the bounds of the law.
    • We may sometimes use third party data processors that are located outside of the European Economic Area (“the EEA”) (The EEA consists of all EU member states, pl  me Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein). Where I transfer any personal data outside the EEA, I will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your data is treated as safely and securely as it would be within the UK and under the GDPR.
    • In certain circumstances, I may be legally required to share certain data held by us, which may include your personal data, for example, where I are involved in legal proceedings, where I are complying with legal requirements, a court order, or a governmental authority.
  1. What Happens If  my Business Changes Hands?
    • We may, from time to time, expand or reduce  my business and this may involve the sale and/or the transfer of control of all or part of  my business. Any personal data that you have provided will, where it is relevant to any part of  my business that is being transferred, be transferred along with that part and the new owner or newly controlling party will, under the terms of this Privacy Policy, be permitted to use that data only for the same purposes for which it was originally collected by us.
    • In the event that any of your data is to be transferred in such a manner, you will not be contacted in advance and informed of the changes.
  1. How Can You Control Your Data?
    • In addition to your rights under the GDPR, set out in section 3, when you submit personal data to   me via email or via my Site, you may be given options to restrict my use of your data. In particular, I aim to give you strong controls on  my use of your data for direct marketing purposes (including the ability to opt-out of receiving emails from me which you may do by unsubscribing using the links provided in  my emails and at the point of providing your details).
    • You may also wish to sign up to one or more of the preference services operating in the UK: The Telephone Preference Service (“the TPS”), the Corporate Telephone Preference Service (“the CTPS”), and the Mailing Preference Service (“the MPS”). These may help to prevent you receiving unsolicited marketing. Please note, however, that these services will not prevent you from receiving marketing communications that you have consented to receiving.
  1. Your Right to Withhold Information
    • You may access certain areas of  my Site without providing any data at all. However, to use all features and functions available on  my Site you may be required to submit or allow for the collection of certain data.
    • You may restrict  my use of Cookies. You can choose to enable or disable Cookies in your internet browser. Most internet browsers also enable you to choose whether you wish to disable all cookies or only third party Cookies. By default, most internet browsers accept Cookies but this can be changed. You have the right to ask for a copy of any of your personal data held by   me (where such data is held). Please contact me for more details using the contact details below in section 13.

  1. Our Use of Cookies
    • All Cookies used by and on  my Site are used in accordance with current Cookie law.
    • We may place and access some first party and third party Cookies on your computer or device, to facilitate and improve your experience of  my Site and to provide and improve my services
  • First party Cookies are those placed directly by   me and are used only by us. Third party Cookies are those placed by websites, services, and/or parties other than us.  These Cookies are not integral to the functioning of my Site and your use and experience of my Site will not be impaired by refusing consent to them.
  • Before Cookies are placed on your computer or device, you will be shown a pop-up requesting your consent to set those Cookies. By giving your consent to the placing of Cookies, you are enabling   me to provide the best possible experience and service to you. You may, if you wish, deny consent to the placing of Cookies; however certain features of my Site may not function fully or as intended.
  • Certain features of  my Site depend on Cookies to function. Cookie Law deems these Cookies to be “strictly necessary”. These Cookies are also shown above. Your consent will not be sought to place these Cookies, but it is still important that you are aware of them. I have taken great care to ensure that your privacy is not at risk by allowing them.
  • Our Site uses Google Analytics. Website analytics refers to a set of tools used to collect and analyse anonymo  me usage information, enabling me to better understand how my Site is used. This, in turn, enables me to improve  my Site and the services offered through it. You do not have to allow me to use these Cookies, however whilst my use of them does not pose any risk to your privacy or your safe use of  my Site, it does enable me to continually improve my Site, making it a better and more useful experience for you.
